Sweet Potato Trial: Boost Tuber Quality & Stress Tolerance with Albit® 2015
Mike Tart - Benson, NC | 2015
Grow Healthier Sweet Potatoes—even Under Heat and Drought
This Sweet Potato Trial, conducted in Benson, NC (2015), tested Albit® under extreme growing conditions, including high heat and drought stress. The trial demonstrated how Albit® supports tuber development, strengthens plant resilience, and improves marketable yield—even in tough seasons.
Fields treated with Albit® showed larger, more uniform tubers, better drought tolerance, and accelerated growth compared to untreated rows. The difference in plant vigor and final harvest quality was especially apparent under stress conditions. While untreated plots suffered from “balling” and smaller, irregular tubers, Albit®-treated crops produced better-formed tubers with reduced harvest days.
With Albit® applied in setting water and during early growth, the plants were able to withstand both heat and water stress, resulting in a healthier canopy and more consistent tuber sizing. This translated to fewer culled or diseased boxes and a stronger commercial pack-out.
